hi there nonjwspouse, yes, i don't worry about that, it's really more of her trying to blend in with her own family (her husband is catholic and her children too). she of course knows my stance on it, but we have no problem talking about it, jokingly most of the time. the good thing about the catholic church is that people are a pretty much down to earth and living in the real life most of the time.

Why is TRUTH banned in so many countries ?

china, saudi arabia, singapore, north korea and so on..... why cant jah lift the ban on those countries ?

china aint that anti-religion, they just want to keep it separate from the state. local differences may apply. in case of the JWs the fact that i'ts a religion controlled by some american corporation doesn't really help the cause i guess. in addition to that, popular chinese religions like confucianism and daoism, partially also buddhism don't really need a god or worshipping a god.

we already had endless threads about the (non)existence of free will. in the end the question is: free from what? you're FREE to jump down a 10 story building, but you WILL break your bones - even if you would prefer a different outcome. once we aks ourselves WHY we believe something or decide one way or another, it becomes obvious that there are too many external and internal influences to call any of this free. at least not in the absolute sense it's often used.

when i first found out that there's no implied purpose, i felt a big void as well. because all my life i was told there was something when there actually wasn't anything. but you know, you can fill that void with anything you please. and you can do that all by yourself, how cool is that!

in keeping with the spirit of new light, 2014 is going to need a moral boost because one hundred years of lies needs a spin doctor of bethel size.
the poster with the close new light for 2014 will be showered with glory and much pomp.

by cofty invillagegirl's question on another thread was probably supposed to be rhetorical but i want to respond to it.. many times people of faith express similar misapprehensions about those who don't share their views on eternity.. i want this to be a positive thread.
an opportunity for atheists to share what moves and inspires them.
